Living With Hope
It has been said that, "To live without hope is to cease to live."*
You may be able to exist without hope, but you will not be able to really live.
The good news is that God is a God of hope and wants to fill your life with hope.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13 (NIV)
God's Word is speaking of a rich hope, a certain expectation, not just wishful thinking. Some people hope (wish)
. . . for their favorite team to win a championship, or at least a game.
. . . for an "A" on a test, or just to pass the class.
. . . to hit the lottery.
But some people are much more desperate, they hope for
. . . a cure to their mother's cancer
. . . a job to provide for their family
. . . their child to beat a drug addiction
. . . someone to love them
Can God really fill such people as this, and you, with joy and peace so that you "overflow with hope". Yes, yes he can and he does. Notice what the key is, you must trust him! It isn't easy to believe, especially when it seems so hopeless, but God is an amazing God of power and grace that is willing to reach into your life and give you great hope. Understand that God is not your personal genie, He may not answer your prayers as you desire, but He will assure you with the certain hope that He is always with you and will never forsake you.
We have found that by coming together as a church family we find encouragement.
We see the Spirit of God working in a family's life restoring them and giving them hope.
We see the Lord giving a cancer patient peace and eternal hope.
We see God answering prayers.
And from all of this our hope in Christ overflows.
